Rescue on fractalus
Hardware: C64
Visualizza
Titolo originale:Rescue on Fractalus
Year: 1985 Lucasfilm (Activision)
Genre: Shooter - 3D
Lang: English
Description:
A fierce battle is taking place in your galaxy quadrant. The good guys
are up against the Jaggies and things aren’t going so well. On the
planet Fracalus the Ethercorps pilots are being shot down in large
numbers and in desperate need of rescue. This is your chance to be a
hero. A Mother Ship has been placed in booster range of the planet and
Air Pilots are needed to fly down to the surface, avoid the Jaggi
defences and rescue the downed pilots.
You play the role of an Air Pilot and are equipped with a Valkyrie
Fighter to fly down and perform your Rescue on Fractalus. The Valkyrie
has had most its good armaments stripped off in order to give it the
ability to rescue the pilots. All you are left with is your shield
which can take a limited amount of abuse and your AMB (anti matter
bubble) torpedo. The good news is that you’ve been given an Etheric
Navigayion System which not only guides you through the thick
atmosphere but also shows the rough location of downed pilots. Your
instrument panel shows the basic instruments of an aircraft and all you
have other than that is an indicator showing how many pilots left to
rescue.
The one thing that dominates this game is the immensely atmospheric
gameplay. This is a game that must be played in the dark, volume up
high, on your own. You’ll get more frights from this than you will from
most film thrillers. The fractal landscape gives a realistic sense of
flying through an alien planet and the zapping noise of enemy gun
positions (keep the volume up) is bound to leave you feeling nervous as
your shields get drained. You can get a real shock when you slowly fly
around the edge of a mountain only to be confronted by an angry enemy
laser. Flying night-time missions on Fractalus only adds to the fear.

Description:
The game is a sequel to Rise of the Robots. The press was quite divided about it,
the game receiving both very good and very bad grades.
In the sequel new troubles in ElectroCorp have begun. As we remember, this
corporation made robots for civilian jobs, but one Supervisor decided to make
robot-killers. Human brains were implanted on some of them. But this time, one
hacker has infected the ElectroCorp's network with a virus, so Supervisor lost
control over robots and they began to kill each other. You are one of them.
