A couple of years later, in 1990, two Operation Wolf style games were
released, Operation Hanoi and Operation Thunderbolt. Despite being
finished two years later, they were both inferior to Operation Wolf.
Surprisingly enough, compared to Operation Thunderbolt, Operation
Hanoi was a much better game. Its game mechanics were not as lousy as
Operation Thunderbolt, and it was more faithful to the original
Operation Wolf.

The evil dictator Lee Ho Fook has invaded a neighbouring country. If he is not
stopped, he will also take over your country. You are an officer in your
country's army, which recently overthrew the previous dictator who ruled it.
From the moment you see and play this game, you will immediately notice that it
has been heavily influenced by Operation Wolf. Both the graphics and
gameplay are extremely similar indeed, and this game is almost an exact clone of
it. Just shoot everything which appears on the screen while trying to conserve
your ammunition! The music on the menu is disappointing, but the graphics are
colourful and well drawn and the pace is quite hectic.

Description:
Tension is mounting in the Middle East and several important oil bases are at
risk, so the US Naval Air Force have initialized Operation Hormuz - sending you
in your fighter jet to take out several enemy missile bases. It would be a tough
job in real life, but it's even harder here! As soon as you start, you're
bombarded from all sides by enemy fire, and must have the reflexes of Superman
to get very far! Your jet has four different weapons to take out enemies on the
ground, on the sea and in the air. The graphics are good, and the sound effects
are also good (there's an excellent tune on the options screen) but it's basically
just Harrier Attack with knobs on.

You are BOB MORANE, locked in a deadly struggle with your old enemy, the
Yellow Shadow. His new underwater bases are designed to build a series of
killer robots which will be unleashed on an unsuspecting world. Once
crushed and demoralized, the world's populations will be incapable of
resisting against a new and dreaded global dictator: MR. MING, the YELLOW
SHADOW himself!
The Free World's Secret Services have turned to you for help. At 6:15p.m.,
you are parachuted into the zone where the YELLOW SHADOW has built his
bases; the MARSHALL Islands in the Northern Pacific. As soon as you land,
you must eliminate, while piloting a jet-bike, a DACOIT (one of the
YELLOW SHADOW's hired thugs), then take control of a bathyscaph (mini
attack-submarine). When you've reached the ocean-bottom, you must protect
your bases and destroy the YELLOW SHADOW's growing network of bases.
If this mission seems tough (and it is), then you'll be horrified to know
that there's more danger waiting for you down there! Minefields, man-
eating sharks, giant squids and DACOIT divers, the fanatical servants of
Mr. Ming who will kill you for the glory of the YELLOW SHADOW. These
ruthless killers will show no mercy. And in case you think you'll still
have time for admiring the scenery, the YELLOW SHADOW has laid on a few
fleets of undersea scooters; their super-laser beams can turn your sub to
ash!
You must destroy every one of the YELLOW SHADOW's bases. You do that by
placing mines on the energy canals which connect Mr. MING's bases to each
other. Every enemy base is linked to one or more other bases by these
energy canals in the middle of which you will see ENERGY REPEATERS. You
must, therefore, eliminate these REPEATERS in order to destroy the energy
canals and isolate the base. When one of the YELLOW SHADOW's bases is
isolated, it will self-destruct automatically due to energy failure. You
will see the different ways to eliminate the REPEATERS a little further on.

1) Allied intelligence reports surveillance satellite stations and are
recording increased underwater activity in North Sea as of 0903Z 14Nov.
Photographs by Airborne Unit show activity is undersea mining operation
of unknown duration. Intelligence believes operation coordinated by
known private arms dealer code name Yellow Shadow. Past geologic
surveys indicate area is rich with uranium deposits repeat uranium
deposits. Consensus is that Yellow Shadow will manufacture nuclear
stockpile for sale to unfriendly governments.
2. Mining operation consists of multiple undersea bases. Intelligence
suspects facilities can extract unacceptable amounts of uranium within
thirty-six hours repeat thirty-six hours. Consensus is that these bases
must be destroyed. NATO concurs but insists operation be covert to
avoid international incident.
3. You will be airlifted to North Sea drop site 55N 3E at 0745Z 16Nov.
From there you will travel due west by power ski to rendezvous with
submarine HMS Remora. Conduct commando raid to destroy bases before
Yellow Shadow extracts sufficient uranium to fuel nuclear arsenal.

British developer that remains today one of the best "hard-core" flight
sim companies. In this excellent World War II sim, it is your job as an
Allies pilot to succeed in destroying the German forces occupying
Northern France in Operation codenamed "Overlord", the air campaign
leading up to D-Day.
Aside from excellent and varied mission selection and realistic flight dynamics,
Overlord enters gaming history as one of the very first flight sims to
make use of the brand new S3 graphics chipset, which allows doubling the
screen resolution from 300 x 200 pixels to an amazing 600 x 400. The
result is a game that looks good and plays even better. Remains to this
day one of the best (and most underrated) WWII flight sims that was well
ahead of its time.
