Description:
Microsoft Flight Simulator 3 improved the flight experience by
adding additional aircraft and airports to the simulated area found in
MSFS2, as well as improved high-res (EGA) graphics, and other features lifted
from the Amiga/ST versions.
The three simulated aircraft were the Gates Learjet 25, the Cessna Skylane, and
the Sopwith Camel.
Flight Simulator 3 also allowed the user to customize the display;
multiple windows, each displaying one of several views, could be
positioned and sized on the screen. The supported views included the
instrument and control panel, a map view, and various external camera
angles.

Description:
A large series of add-on products were produced for FS4 between 1989
and 1993. First from Microsoft & the Bruce Artwick Organization
(BAO) came the Aircraft and Scenery Designer (ASD) integration module.
This allowed FS4 users to quite easily build, on the fly from directly
within the program, custom scenery units known as SC1 files which could
be used within FS4 and traded with other users (this activity was quite
popular in the FS Forum on CompuServe). Also, ASD provided the addition
of the Aircraft Designer Module. Again, from directly within the
program the user could select one of two basic type aircraft frames
(prop or jet) and proceed to parameter customizations ranging over 4
pages of flight envelope details and visual aspects. Finally, ASD
provided additional aircraft including a 747 with a custom dash/cockpit
(which required running in 640 x 350 resolution).
Next from Mallard Software and BAO came the Sound, Graphics, and Aircraft
Upgrade (SGA).
This added digital and synth sound capability to FS4 (which previously was
only via PC speaker.) Second a variety of high resolution modes became
available for specific types of higher end video cards and chipsets,
thus supplying running resolutions up to 800 x 600. As with ASD, the
SGA upgrade also came with some additional aircraft designed by BAO,
including an Ultra-light.

Description:
Midi-Maze, played on Atari STs linked up via MIDI cables, is probably the first
multiplayer first-person shooter for home micros, and a descendent of the
original Maze War from the 70s.
Naturally, this game is quite dissimilar to the FPS games of today. The game is
set in a typical maze with only 90° corners instead of the multi-level free
layouts of a modern FPS, and all graphics are drawn with filled polygons only.
Weapon systems are limited to a plain gun with a small reloading interval.
And all the participants are big, floating smiling faces. Up to 16 players may
compete simultaneously, but those who wish to train before a match can do it
alone against drones. It is possible both to play one against all or to team up.

Description:
Midnight Resistance was a conversion of a very popular Data East arcade
game in which you take on literally hundreds of soldiers and far
fetched mechanical bosses with the aid of many overpowered weapons and
gadgets.
The Commodore 64 conversion contains 5 of the original's 9 levels,
taking you from bullet-ridden highways to complex military
installations. You start the game with five lives and basic rifle, but
as you complete the stages, you will be given the opportunity to
purchase new hand weapons and backpacks using red keys, which are
obtained by shooting special key soldiers throughout the level.
This game has been converted extremely well to the Commodore,
especially for an Arcade game released as late as 1990. Apart from
obvious compromises like sprite size and colour, very few reductions
have been made. The game plays excellently fast with smooth scrolling
and well designed courses. The graphics are accurate, and are well
animated in all cases. All the musics from the Arcade Game are in
there, although not all are in the correct places.

DEscription:
An enemy group has kidnapped your entire family in order to blackmail you so
that you can be coerced to their whim. However you decide to arm yourself to the
teeth, commando-style, and with a friend's attempt to rescue them from their
captors in this action shoot-'em-up. You guide our intrepid hero through side
scrolling screens of pretty much shooting anything or anyone that stands in your
way. Special weapon upgrades can be bought from shops via the tokens collected
from your dead enemies. These prove most useful, as your defences are limited to
one hit only. Graphics are detailed, but are of Spectrum quality. However, they
don't detract from a faithful arcade conversion with bags of gameplay.

Description:
Midwinter" is a highly complex strategy game. It is easy to learn,
but difficult to master. Many of the screens are driven by easily
identifiable icons, the function of which are shown in the ICON.PIC.
When the game has loaded, select your method of control and "Training"
mode from the 'Game Options' screen. Deselect "Mortars" and "Bombers",
and click on the "Play" box.
You are in control of Captain John Stark, leader of the Free
Villages Peace Force, the law enforcement agency on the island of
"Midwinter". Enemy forces under the control of the evil General
Masters have set up their base in the south-east and are attempting to
capture your Heat Mines which are distributed throughout the island. Your
objective is to recruit fellow members of the F.V.P.F. (there are 32 in
total) and ultimately to defeat General Masters by destroying his
Headquarters in Shining Hollow.
