shadow of evil has fallen over the land. The crops are blighted, the earth
scorched from lack of rain. Disease and famine ravage the once-prosperous people,
whose hope of salvation fades with each passing day. The only hope left is to
find the wizard Astrix, in faint hope that he will emerge from his distant
solitude and offer his assistance. A party was dispatched, but they haven't been
heard from since their departure months ago. Now, with winter's hardships looming
on the horizon, a second expedition has been assembled and will soon embark on
a fateful Journey into the unknown.
The party of four is led by Bergon, a strong and fair man and a carpenter by trade.
The Wizard, Praxix, wise yet unpredictable, provides the party with knowledge
of lore and magic. Esher, the well-respected (if somewhat curmudgeonly)
physician, has also been asked to make the trek. Finally, Tag, an apprentice
food merchant, has agreed to tend to the party's provisions and to make a diary
of its adventures. The tale is told by Tag and the story of your Journey is
seen through his eyes.
Whether your party meets the fate of its predecessors or returns triumphant is
in your hands. In Journey, the decisions you make for the party and its members
are woven into an epic tale of danger and mystery, of breathtaking beauty and
heartbreaking loss, of desperate struggle and, finally, of ultimate triumph.
Your Journey will provide you with many hours of enjoyment and many hundreds of
difficult decisions. But unlike other games you may have played, there are
virtually no dead ends. Any action you take will advance the story toward one of its
many endings. But there is only one ending that is the best.
To lead the party to its ultimate victory is a challenge worthy of only the most
brave and most clever adventurer.

J.R.R. Tolkien’s Riders of Rohan is a nice wargame, made by Japanese videogame
giant Konami in 1991.
Its originality in comparison with dozens of other Middle
Earth-based titles lies in its structure. It mixes different genres,
like strategy, adventure and arcade-action.
Its plot is based on the events that take place in the second book of the famous
Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Two Towers. Nice, because you know how it starts
and how it ends, but can still do whatever you like in the middle of it.
After Boromir’s death, Orcs kidnap the hobbits Merry and Pippin
while Frodo and Sam are leaving for Mordor. The remaining members of
the Fellowship decide to pursue the Orcs and free their friends,
leaving Frodo and Sam on their own. Now you take control of the action.
You’ll find yourself in the Rohan Mark, giving commands to Prince
Theodred and his border army, as well as to the group of pursuers,
Legolas the Elf, Gimli the Dwarf and, naturally, Aragorn/Strider of
Gondor. You can decide to follow the book storyline strictly, or twist
it completely. You can prevent Prince Theodred from dying, let Merry
and Pippin alone with their doom, and even avoid the Helm’s Deep Siege.
It depends on your choices of action and dialogue.
The adventure aspect depends greatly on those choices. At different
times in the game you’ll switch to dialogue mode which features very
graceful graphics and adds more to atmosphere. Don’t relax though,
because those moments are VERY important. A word can more or less
completely change your future. Anyone who has read the book or watched
the movie will probably take advantage of it. The right words will in
fact grant you the help of the amazingly powerful Ents, and even
persuade King Theoden himself to take up his sword and shield and fight
at your side.

Judge Dredd is able to move left and right, and walk to drive up and down
ramps built onto the side of the city blocks. Dredd cannot be killed but his
energy level will decrease if he is attacked by a perp. If he loses too much
energy he will be commitied to hospital and the crime rate will soar.
If the crime rate is too high Dredd must take the 'Long Walk'. The crime rate
in Mega-City also increases if Dredd does not do anything,and also while he
is riding his 'Lawmaster Bike'.Although the bike travels around the block
faster than if Dredd is walking,he cannot shoot or arrest 'Perps',hence the
crime rate rises.If he arrests a 'Perp' with his 'Lawgiver' drawn or shoots
a 'Perp' the crime rate drops.Dredd's weapon is his 'Lawgiver' which uses
three types of bullets.

running over to whatever the trouble spot is and shooting everything
up. Apparently, there's no due process or Miranda Law on the books in
the future, because nobody gets arrested,just blasted! Dredd's gun is
called the PeaceMaker or Lawgiver or whatever, and you get to use it an
awful lot.With special bullets even. You gat down civilians looking for
hamburgers, mutants, dogs, mutant dogs.
This game features possibly one of the best Brennan soundtracks, and
suits the game perfectly. What we have here is a collection of
squealing 303-style synth leads, relentless bass skittering across the
barlines, haunting variants of the main motif and a lot of grime
everywhere. It does a great job of capturing the paranoid, hostile,
chaotic and f-ed up MegaCity One that you, as Judge Dredd , must patrol
during the course of this C64 classic.
